Make free Ringtone for iPhone 5 Via iTunes

There are many ways for us to get ringtone for our new iPhone, the iPhone 5, such as transfer ringtone from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5, free download ringtone for iPhone 5 from some free ringtone sites, buy ringtone from iTunes, or make ringtone with iPhone ringtone maker. Actually, they are all good ways for people to get ringtone for iPhones, including the iPhone 5. But, I just would like to share the way to get free ringtones for iPhone 5 by making ringtone via iTunes (DIY).

Since from iTunes 10, we are not able to find the feature to create ringtone for iPhone on iTunes, but there is still a method for us to make ringtone via iTunes for our iPhone, and obviously, that is also suitable for creating ringtone for iPhone 5.

So in order to make free ringtone for iPhone 5 via iTunes, the things below we should be prepared beforehand:
 iTunes 10.7,  computer (Windows computer or Mac), a song

Now, let's start!

1st Step, Open iTunes, and add song in.

2nd Step, Right click on the song to choose "Get Info", then you'll get the properties of the song.

3rd Step, Select "Options" tab, check and set "Start Time" and "Stop Time" to cut the portion of the song we want to make as ringtone, when it get ready to confirm it by clicking "OK" button on the bottom.

 Note: Please ensure the time length no longer than 30 seconds, else iTunes will not recognise it as ringtone.

4th Step, Right click on the song again to choose "Create AAC Version".

5th Step, Then iTunes will automatically extract the portion of the song we set in 4th step, and the extracted music file is 30 seconds in time length.

6th Step, Now right click on the 30 seconds length song to choose "Show in Windows Explorer", that will make you to locate this file with Windows Explorer.
Note: If you are on Mac, please choose "Show in Finder", as here I work on Windows computer.

7th Step, Rename the file extension from ".m4a" to ".m4r" or just convert this .m4a file to .m4r file directly.

Note: Sometimes you may find it's difficult to change a file extension from one to another, so in this situation, you need to uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" in Tools-->Folder options-->View tab, then you are able to change file extension from one to another.

8th Step, Back to iTunes, right click on the 30 seconds length song we created in 5th step and select "Delete".

9th Step, Click "Delete Song", and then click "Keep File" , thus, the song will be deleted from iTunes library but the actual song (30 seconds length) still keep.

10th Step, Back to Windows Explorer to open the renamed .m4r song file with iTunes, then it can be added to iTunes Tones library directly, then you can sync it to iPhone 5 with iTunes for your new ringtone enjoyment!

And this way is suitable for those who want to transfer unpurchased songs, videos ,photos and ebooks between two iPhones under different iTunes account, and also the purchased songs, videos,photos and ebooks under the same iTunes account.

Method Three, Use iTunes to Transfer Files from iPhone to iPhone (The Common Way)

In this way, we need to transfer files from one iPhone to iTunes first, the method is like below.

Step1, Go to devices preferences on iTunes;

Step2, Check the option "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically";

Step3, Connect the iPhone which contains the files you want to transfer, go to 'File' menu on iTunes to choose "Transfer Purchases from iPhone".

Then the purchased things can be transferred to iTunes soon, then connect your another iPhone to iTunes , then to sync it with iTunes, then the files from the previous iPhone will be transferred to this iPhone soon.

And in this way, as the same as iCloud, you can only transfer purchased music, videos ,photos and ebooks, and also the calender and contacts between two iPhones under the same iTunes account.

Aside from this way, we can also use Google Play Music Manager to transfer songs from iPad to Android phones, which just need you to import iTunes music playlist to Music Manager after you transferred music from iPad to iTunes, then you can listen these songs with your Android Phones and even your other Android devices.

And for the Galaxy Phone from Samsung, we can use Easy Phone Sync to transfer music from iPad to our Galaxy phone, the first we need to transfer songs from iPad to iTunes, and then we can use Easy Phone Sync to transfer these songs from iTunes to Galaxy Phones.

And this is the best way of watching MKV movies on smartphones, tablets so far, because the MKV is still a new container for videos or movies, and there are little devices accept it directly due to it can contain multiple different video formats, audio formats and subtitles with different languages.
